Pete Marshall and Ian Haughey‘….two singers, two songwriters, driving acoustic guitars and hard electric overtones, soulful rhythms and heart felt lyrics…’
Ian and Pete first started playing guitar together about 10 years ago. Acoustic folk and folk rock covers soon gave way to writing original songs with influences as diverse as Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, Bob Marley, Neil Young, Paul Weller and Bob Dylan.
A lot of jamming around followed by various experimental band line-ups involving musicians from too many different parts of the country eventually led to the Duffey Boys being created at the beginning of 2004.
The idea was not to become a laid back acoustic duo. The idea was also to entertain and move…. and rock a little....that's why the 'band' feel still plays a key part in the Duffey Boys sound.
Pete has written music and words for his own professional theatre company, daystar theatre, for over twenty years. With the Duffey Boys he sings and plays acoustic and electric guitar and writes about anything that moves the human spirit. His experience in writing comedy sometimes manifests itself in his surrealistic ramblings between songs.
Ian writes and sings soulful, heartfelt songs and plays acoustic guitar. He can sing a new song in a pub session one week and people will remember and request it again the next. He occasionally starts telling a joke between songs but has never been known to finish one.
